Definitely, to become an assistant professor, Ph.D. is mandatory (however, it will be effective from 2021). You can apply in IIT's and NIT's and in universities. You also can apply for research work in IIT colleges. After clearing the NET Exam, you will be able to teach in a private university but to become a government lecturer or an assistant professor's job, you have to complete your doctorate degree.

As per the official website of Chandigarh University it offers placement in hospitality sector in the big hotels like Radisson and it is given that it has 24 international hotels (5 Star) but I would like to recommend you that in the hospitality sector, you should not be constant with one place, you should keep shifting the jobs for the work experience as it will help you to get more income from the company that you work for as well. You can apply for UGC NET Exam in the subject, that you have studied in your post-graduation. As you said that you have completed your Masters with History subject, then you can take your exam in History subject. Along with this, you should have minimum marks 55% (Gen) or 50% (ST /SC/PWD/OBC/Transgenders) in your post-graduation.
Before to apply, you should check all the details regarding this exam. So, prepare well with the good study material.
