No, you don't necessarily need a journalism major to get a Master's in Journalism (MJ). Many programs accept students from various backgrounds as long as they have:

  • A bachelor's degree in any field from a recognised university.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Passion for journalism and strong work ethic.

Some programs might prefer applicants with journalism or related backgrounds, but it's not always mandatory.

Well, Amit, as you know that B-Schools are the 2nd part of management education while 1st and top ones being IIMs and IITs. The actual scenario of 70% B-Schools who are supposed to say their average is Rs 6-7 lakhs is merely to fool the applicants.Try to understand the difference. I am not discouraging you as even I am a part of B-school but you need to understand that the average packages lies between Rs 3.5-5.5 lakhs maximum. You need to excel yourself in your professional career to soon reach a high position with a pay you expect. Be smart in choosing your college as it would lead you to a bright side of the career path.

Hi Rajesh,
Medicine and engineering have been the two most wanted careers for middle class India. In engineering, four years of good study at a decent college fetches you a well-paying job. But, if you do not get good college or in good college your semester marks are not good, then the job is insecure.
In Medical, five years of basic medical study, even from the best institution gets you nowhere. You have to do a post graduate specialization (another three years). After 10 to 11 years of study, you are a perfect doctor, if your studies are well, then you go for practice and then you can have a secured future.
All the best.

It's always better to go step by step. As for advance diploma, you need to have a diploma degree first and then you should first make your base strong and then move forward.

Scores are not criteria to appear for the CAT. So, yes you can appear for CAT, but if you are from the general category, it will be difficult for you to gain admission in the IIMs, which conduct CAT for admission into different IIMs.
That being said, there are still a lot of other colleges which would accept you for their MBA or related programs irrespective of these scores.
