Hi Kunal,
Yes, polytechnic students give JEE Mains paper but only get an entry from 1st year in IIT. Diploma students don't have a lateral entry scheme in IIT. So, if you really want to get into an IIT for B.Tech, you will have to sit for both Mains & Advanced exams and crack them. So, if you only want to get into an IIT. Don't mind an added year and prepare very thoroughly for Mains & Advanced and clear them (which is a herculean task to do as they have a wide range of questions with ultimate depths). Otherwise, you can follow the normal process of getting into any other engineering college via your Diploma percentages and preparing h

Coaching centers help to some extent only. What matters is the self-study. I will advise you to refer few good entrance exams books and give mock test on regular basis. You can approach some teachers who have expertise in the subjects.

Total number of intake, number of students appeared, number of students passed, reservation, etc. I would suggest you use some of the college predictor websites to get a small guide on the possible college you might get or your rank.
