It seems that you are interested in gaining lateral entry directly into 2nd year B.Tech program.
Usually the basic eligibility for lateral entry in B.Tech is successfully completing 3 years diploma in engineering. However, this may vary from institute to institute
One requires to qualify LEET as conducted by the technical education board of the state. Lateral Entry Entrance Tests are conducted on state level. But some colleges and Universities too conduct Lateral Entry Tests. You will get direct admission to 2nd year of B. Tech if you clear the exam.

To study further, as a diploma-holder in Mechanical Engineering, you have the following options:
a) Seek lateral entry to the second year of BE (Mech). Several engineering colleges offer this provision;
b) If you are employed, you can either do a part-time, 4-year BE from an engineering college or acquire a BS degree by distance mode e.g. from Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Distance Learning Programme Division,
c) Enroll for a Post-Diploma course in Computer Software offered at various polytechnics;
d) Opt for the Associateship of the Institution of Engineers (India) AMIE Sections A & B taken together are equivalent to BE/BTech both for the purpose of employment as well as further study

Hi Anil,
After completing class 12th with Commerce stream you may consider pursuing some of the below mentioned courses:
-Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com)
- Bachelor in Accounting and finance (BAF)
- Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA)
- Bachelor in Hotel Management (BHM)
- Bachelor in Mass Media (BMM)
The above mentioned course can be pursued in full time mode or through distance education.
Besides the above mentioned course you may even consider pursuing:
-Chartered accountancy (CA)
-Company Secretary (CS).
There are few Diploma courses also available:
-Diploma in Banking and Insurance Management
-Diploma in E-Commerce
-Diploma in Banking
-Diploma in Accounting and Finance
However, if you are interested in Automotive Design, engineering you need to pursue Mechanical Engineering, which would not be possible with commerce background.
These are the programs that you may consider pursuing:
*Undergraduate Certificate in Automotive Design from DYP-DC Center for Automotive Research and Studies, Lohegaon, Pune
Eligibility:
-Class XII Arts, Science or Commerce
-3 Year Full Time Diploma after Class X
-1 Year Foundation Course in Design from a reputed institution
