Hello Nishar Ahmed, ARCH college of Design & Business and Amity Jaipur were formed or established around approximately same time. Former is a private college affiliated to Rajasthan University for some courses and to RISU for some other courses. On the other hand Amity Jaipur is a deal to be university. Of course both being non public founded can charge fees to the extent they can. ARCH charges about rupees 4 lacs, approximately, per year for 4 year design degree course. On the other hand Amity Jaipur charges about rupees 5.3 Lacs approximately for its four years design degree course. This, we can see that over a 4 year period, the same difference is about rupees 1 lakh, with Amity charging this much more as compared with ARCH. But then when one studies in Amity, it's a University in itself whereas the other institution is bound by various rules and regulations of the Rajasthan University. This too should be taken into account while thinking of taking admission in either of these two institutes.

        It follows a very odd or unique methodology for giving admissions. Even though college has not prescribed any cutoffs or minimum marks to be obtained in 12th, in fact going on to state that even 11th class students can apply, it, all the same, has some unique screening ways. 

          Prospective students have to register first, called request form. Institute will then contact and ascertain suitability by telephonic discussion. Student is then required to register for and take entrance exam conducted by the institute. This is supposed to be the attitude test and not an aptitude test! Successful completion of the test will be followed by an interview and offer of admission. 

       As one can see, there is lot of subjectivity in the whole procedure. Avowed aim of the institution for this is to check the mental ability and capacity of the student to undertake design studies. 

     So in nutshell, no cutoff but possibility of rejection at every step of admission process.

Hello Nishar Ahmed, comparing a deemed to be university or a private University with a public University is an exercise which is fraud with danger. This is so because the former has no other colleges affiliated to its actually one in all institution. On the other hand, public universities like the North Maharashtra University have many colleges which are affiliated to it. Some colleges may be performing excellently while some could be lagards. In such a scenario comparing becomes quite tough.

Hello Nishar Ahmed, a very interesting query raised by many students. Let me first explain the dynamics of the cutoff and then a specific case of MIT's School of food technology. 

Cutoffs are announced by many institutions to limit the number of students vying for a limited number of seats in popular courses. If the intake capacity is say 100 but thousands of students apply then there will be chaos. Bad names too will come to the institute. Also, system may collapse. Hence to avoid these pitfalls, institutes announce cutoffs below which students cannot even apply. This restricts the number of applicants to a reasonable level. As a side effect, the reputation of such institutions too increases!

In the case of the School of Food Technology under MIT ADT University, no cutoff whatsoever is announced. So have no tension. All students who have obtained marks as per minimum criteria can apply for admission.

This institution gives 50% weightage to the marks obtained in 12th and hence good score in board exam matters a lot. This institution over the years has acquired quite a good reputation for not only academics but also for good placements. This causes many students to apply and this in turn increases the closing ranks or closing percentile that students must get for a reasonable chance of getting admission. Though this institute does not put out this information in public domain, one has to go by the secondary or tertiary sources of information. As per these, one must obtain at least 50 percentile to have a fighting chance of getting admission. Merely fulfilling basic minimum eligibility criteria will not help.
