For admission in a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have passed the higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with science subject such as biology, maths and chemistry. For IITs, It is mandatory to qualify in the Joint Entrance Examinations (J.E.E). The duration for the course is 4 years.

To assume the role of customs office, you should get into the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). IRS constitutes Income Tax and Customs and Central Exercise. Customs deals with taxation of goods brought into the country. Excise deals with taxation of goods manufactured within the country. To get into IRS, you have to clear the Civil Services Examination.
The Union Public Service Commission conducts the civil services examination for recruitment into services like Indian Foreign Service, Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Audit and Accounts Service, Central Secretariat Service and Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise), Group 'A'.
Academic Qualification:
The candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in any field from a well known college or university.
You can opt fro graduation in any stream.
-Age Limits:
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, in the year of examination.
The Civil Services Examination comprises:
(i) Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT)
(ii) Civil Services Main Examination
(iii) Personality Test
Civil Service Aptitude Test consists of two papers. Each paper carries a maximum of 200 marks. Questions are objective type. The syllabus includes subjects like Current Events of National and International, History of India, Geography, Economic and Social Development, general issues on Environmental Ecology, General Science, Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability and English Language Comprehension skills.
Once you qualify the Civil Service Aptitude Test, you are eligible to take the Main Examination.
Number of attempts:
Every candidate appearing at the examination who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted four attempts at the examination.
Qualities required for the position as a Custom Officer
-Age limit- 18 years old
-Indian citizenship
-Must possess a Vehicle license
-Ability to work flexible schedules
-Have reliable transportation
-Should never have used drugs of any kind
-Must pass an extensive background check
-Must be able to successfully complete all training required for the desired position
-Must be able to activate a radio or telephone equipment and console monitors
-Display an aptitude to cooperate genially and communicate with the community
