CBSE Improvement Exam is a way to improve your class 12th result by giving the board exam again next year. You can give cbse improvement exam for one subject or all five subjects, its your choice.
You cannot give improvement exam of additional subject and your practical marks will be carried forward for the next year's result so you have to prepare only for the theory part.
The exam is same as regular board exams and you get a whole year to prepare for the exam.

Well look at the curriculum to find if they offer pre-production areas. Then check if the same is offered in detail. Alternatively for an institute which can offer you an additional curriculum in 2D since that would go very high in pre-production and visualization areas. Like in Engineering, more than the curriculum it is the institute which caters to conceptual needs and even every IIT is different in how it approaches the subject.
