Candidates with qualifications in B.E. / B.Tech. or equivalent degree should have qualified and hold valid GATE score card.
For the M. Des. Programme – Candidates with qualifications in BE/ B.Tech./ B.Des./ B.Arch. degree, should have qualified in GATE/CEED/CAT and hold a valid scorecard. So, yes it's very hard to get admission in IISc.

No, you can not take direct admission to the Division of Mechanical Sciences, Indian Institute of Science. The college offers only MTech and MDes courses. Admission to these courses is based on the scores obtained in the GATE and CAT exams, respectively. There is no management quota or any other quota available at the college for direct admission.
