Becoming an EMT is a physically demanding career with plenty of lifting, extended shift hours, and responding to emergencies of any size.

EMTs have work environments that can be stressful, and they must be prepared to respond quickly, and sometimes to extreme environments in extreme weather or chaotic scenes. It does take stamina, mental toughness, and sufficient muscle strength to be successful as an EMT.

Emergency Medical Technician Basic includes some of the fundamental emergency care interventions (such as CPR, first aid, and transporting patients) but very little advanced procedures. An Intermediate EMT may be permitted to perform limited advanced procedures (such as intravascular therapy). Advanced EMTs (or paramedics) have responsibilities which include airway management, drug delivery, and the delivery of critical care. Each level has differences with respect to training duration, the level of patient responsibility, and clinical complexity.

An EMT in India typically earns between INR 12,000 to INR 20,000 per month as a starting salary.

The salary will depend on the regional location, employer (government/private), and experience. As EMTs gain experience and additional certifications, they can eventually transition to higher-paying positions in ambulances, hospitals, or emergency departments.

Yes, EMTs can work in emergency rooms (ER's) and may be able to help with patient stabilization.

As for level I ICU roles while some may be available to EMT's, ICU is usually the dominion of nurses and other health professionals with native skill or advanced training. EMTS primarily assist with patient transport, initial care, and triage functions under supervision in the hospital setting.
