This year (2018 passing out batch) placements for M.TECH CSED and ECED have been outstanding. From this year, MNNIT Allahabad has also started 6 months internship for m.tech students in their final i.e. 4th semester. Students have got 6 months internship in organizations like Intel, Qualcomm, Microsemi, NetApp, cisco, adobe, VMware, general electric, etc.
The placement at Mnnit depends upon the student's talent and knowledge. It's not so that companies do not allow M.tech students, most of them do allow and few of them even offer higher packages than the B.tech students. Having said so, i must make it clear that there are a few big companies (e.g. J.P. Morgan, Samsung, etc ) who offer roles only for b.tech students and also the number of hires from b.tech is much more as compared to M.tech generally. They only recruit a student if he has good knowledge and satisfies their expectations and standards.

No doubt, computer science (CSE) and Information Technology (IT) are the most demanded branches in engineering. Looking at today's changing world of technology, computer science is no doubt still the best branch. If you have interest in programming and have an inclination towards software than computer science is a good option. Electronics is also a good option as it is a good mix of programming and hardware knowledge. In ECE, you will get a good knowledge of hardware mechanism behind robotics and Sensors. You will learn topics like Micro-controllers, Micro-processors, Integrated Circuits. But at the end programming to control these circuits is also important. So, as per me, CSE and ECE are equally good branches to look for.
