The UGC NET Exam is conducted twice a year by the National Testing Agency in June and December months. If you prepare well, then you crack this exam in 6 months only. The admission into IITs for undergraduate engineering courses is strictly based on the ranks In JEE Advanced exam. But, you need to qualify JEE Mains to appear for JEE Advanced. There is no other way to get admission at IITs.
