PhD degree programs are the third-level degree programs in Germany's education system. In Germany, a PhD or another doctoral degree may be done in different ways such as:-1. There are PhD students who carry out their research work in 'graduate colleges' at universities under a rigid time schedule.
2. Others are university employees and work part-time as teaching or research fellows at the department or any other higher institute in which they pursue PhD program.
3. Others work on their research projects within privately funded or other sponsored non-university research institutes.
4. While some may have the privilege of a scholarship or their private funds allowing them to concentrate exclusively on their PhD, others manage to pursue their PhD work as a 'night job' in addition to working on a regular job in a company.

While short listing the premier Management Schools look for students who are all rounder so, apart from your performance(in percentile) on CAT (which could be as high as 99%) they also take into account your academic score, extra curricular activities, GD/PI performance, some Institutes also give weightage to your work experience.
In case some one feels that he is not been able to perform well in his/her academics, the person should work hard to score as high as possible as this can compensate for his/her low academic scores. So if you feel that you will score high on CAT then I dont see the reason why you have to face problem at the time of placement.
