Although, advisable is that you should opt for a Full Time program from a decent University as it not only gives practical exposure but have a much better market value than the Distance learning program, but as you have 5 years of work experience you can also opt for Distance Education.
As far as the Distance Education MBA is concerned almost all the Universities take direct entry to the program, on the basis of the graduation marks and work experience, however, if you go for MBA through IGNOU you need to appear for Entrance Examination i.e. OPEN MAT.

Well practically speaking switching over to media from engineering will not be feasible as you have to start from the scratch.
But keeping in mind your interest towards media and film making, I would like to give you the information.
Media line itself is so challenging and film making will be more of skill and fund based. To start your career in film making it is necessary for you to gain knowledge about the basic aspects of film making such as Direction, Cinematography,Camera angles, market demand as in what type of films or T.V. shows are in, etc. So I would suggest you join some course related to Film making and direction so that you gain the relevant knowledge. To start a career I would suggest you to join some good production house or an AD agency as a trainee to groom yourself or another good option for you can be to start shooting documentary films, do it as a free lancer or join any NGO and make a documentary for them and then you can apply to big production houses or if you have enough funds you can start your own production. But first I would suggest you to go for film making course.
