As rightly mentioned by Mr. Nirmal, M.Des will define your career in the field of R&D and there are several Govt. agencies that can definitely be a good destination for your M.Des degree like ISRO, SAIL, BHEL and many more.
M.Des offered by IITs seem to have the most reputation and value in the related industry and to qualify to gain admission to IIT, yu require to write and clear the entrance for the same.

It depends upon, in which year and intake you wish to take admission.
The GMAT scores is valid for 5 years, how ever it is advisable to appear for GMAT atleast a year in advance to the year in which you wish to take admission.
