Hi,
In order to pursue Phd, from universities abroad, you need to first of all make a list of the universities that you aspire for, then send emails to respective course department, asking them to provide you the eligibility criteria and selection procedure for PHD students.
It may take three to six years to complete your PHD, depending on the field you select and your mentor.
The general eligibility criteria for PHD students are as follows :
In majority of the institutes, Master's Degree is an essential pre-requisite for a Ph.D. while others admit graduates too.
It is important that you have good scores in common entrance tests such as GRE and English Language examinations like TOEFL.
Internships or other work experience will add to your qualifications.
Ph.D. course work essentially includes research and documentation work. This requires large amounts of money. In addition to this, you have to consider living expenses for the entire duration of the course.

Hi Shikha, conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC), National Eligibility Test (NET) is the national level entrance examination for postgraduate candidates.The Examination is conducted in Humanities, Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Applications and Electronic Science.
As for the eligibility criteria:
-Only those candidates are eligible to appear in NET who have completed/ are pursuing a UGC specified Master's degree.
-Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in Master's Degree from Universities recognized by UGC in Humanities are eligible for this Test.
-Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master's degree exam and whose result is still awaited may also appear.
-Candidate should not be more than 28 years as on 1st June of the year of admission.
The test consists of reasoning ability, objective type questions, descriptive questions.
