There is no provision for direct admission to NIT in reserved category. Direct admissions facility in NIT is for Foreign Nationals/Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)/Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) under Direct Admission Of Students Abroad (DASA) category.

Oh dear it is the time varying things many toppers also from in the south India in the past. another important thing you should check the marks of regional topper you will find the difference is of .5to 1% marks only. So it's a matter of luck nothing else. Don't think negative focus on your studies you may top.

No, they are different. I am from Army background and I have a friend living in different state as me. We both got set 2 of English . However, everything in the question paper was entirely different including the unseen passage. Usually they do this because students of factors such as previous API, competition, facilities provided etc.
