So, the University announces its spot round and gives a time period to fill out applications.
On the day of spot round counselling, applicants are called out according to their ranks. The applicant called is given a choice amongst the branches available for admission. They choose and the procedure continues till there are seats vacant.

As both the colleges are not topped ranked NITs, so here branch matters more than the college.

I think so. You can pursue B Com. But some colleges have higher cut-offs for non stream candidates for giving admission. But why change stream? There are plenty of opportunities in humanities also. Hard work will take you places in humanities also.
