How you prepare for the exam will depend on your own calibre, there is no perfect answer since every student has his or her own calibre, timelines, etc. It may take a couple of weeks or may be months to prepare. One of the best way is to have your basics and fundamentals clear, take a lot of practice tests to understand the areas which need improvement, revise accordingly, a number of practice tests are available online on the college board website. Start working on your maths, memorize basic formulaes, expand your vocabulary knowledge, if needed take an external coaching help. Also don't forget to relax and do some stress busting

I don't think any University would allow you to take admission for MSc in maths based on your graduation in engineering. You need to have graduation in maths before you can seek admission to MSc.
