The scope will depend on the area that you decide to specialize in. It will depend on the city/location where you find the job. You can expect higher in the metro cities.
If you want a better salary then certainly you must complete your masters. Also you must clear the NET+JRF exam. After that you can enter the research field or the teaching, based on your interests.
