Hello, If you are preparing for civil service like IAS IPS, IFS Banking, SSC or if you plan to do MBA after graduation, than B.Com General will be best for, because in this you have to pay less attention on study as compared computer. As per of my knowledge, you can't do this.
Lateral admissions are for Diploma holders.
And in 2nd year, if you score good marks, you get a chance to change your branch (if you are willing to do so).
And if the seats in MBM will be left vacant they will give an advertisement in all the newspapers informing about the vacant seat and for those seats, you can apply.

Both are given equal importance but if you want, you can pursue MBA and then make your career in the banking field because after MBA you will get higher post than others who are directly preparing for banking and if you are going directly and you want to choose the other preparation method then it is also good, it will give you better career prospects.
