Due to intense competition, obtaining a seat in the main branches of VIT Vellore or VIT Chennai may be difficult for applicants with a VITEEE rank of 160,000. On the other hand, less competitive branches or more recent campuses, like VIT Bhopal or VIT Amaravati, may provide you a chance. It is recommended that students take part in all counselling rounds, even the extended or spot rounds when students with lower ranks may have an opportunity. Although they are more expensive, management quota seats are an additional option to think about.

The admission at SRM University is never based on your board exam marks. It is purely based on the rank secured in the SRM JEE examination. If you had not appeared then your chances to get SRM University is nil.

Dear Ananya,
It is hard to say on the basis of marks because it all matters on the basis of ranks.
To be honest, its difficult to get CSE with these marks in the merit category (A). You can get admissions from other categories (B,C) which have more tuition fees (highly exorbitant rates).
CSE branch gets over in merit by 3000 - 5000 rank max. You should apply for online counselling.

Dear Shivam,
No, it is really typical to get admission with such a rank in VITEEE. However, to get admission in your desired branch, the cut-off rank will vary considerably (for example, for CS it is under 8000). If your rank is above 20,000 and you are willing to join VIT, you may do so by getting a seat under the management quota. All the best!
