The eligibility criteria to take admission in NITs are as follows:
1. If you belong to general or OBC category then you should score more than 75 percent marks in class 12th board exams.
2. If you belong to SC or ST category then you need a minimum of 65% in class 12th board exams.
3. If you are among the state top 20 percentile then also you are eligible for NIT.

No, maths is not compulsory in class 11th and 12th for CAT exam. If you are in the final year of your graduation with and have a scored minimum of 55% then you are eligible to appear for CAT exam.
