Yes you need to give Examinations like GMAT , IELTS or TOEFL to study abroad . Many IIM's has tie-up with foreign collaborations but for that you need to score very good in CAT .

It would be unfair on my part to give you a personal judgment on any single Institute. However i know of an institute, UPES i.e a UGC & DEC recognized Institute. This is India's as well as Asia's only core sector university. So comparing with other colleges and university won't be fair as they have a unique name in the core Industry.
