According to Newton, Any two bodies having mass in this universe attract each other (mass1 attracts mass2 with a force and mass2 attracts mass1 with the same force) with a force. He named the phenomenon of attraction as gravitation and gave the 2 attractive forces a name, Gravitational force. The magnitude of these forces between 2 bodies is directly proportional to product of the two masses and inversely proportional to square of distance between the masses he proved. He calculated the constant of proportionality is 6.67 x 10^-11. It is denoted by 'G' and called as 'Universal Gravitational Constant'.
