There are various premium tier-1 colleges in India who provide both UG & PG level in design field, it is conducted by IIT-Bombay every year, you have to give an entrance exam after 12th,
"CEED"
undergraduate common entrance exam for design which provides a B.design (4 years), and also you should meet some of their minimum education qualifications(MEQ), now regarding the syllabus, some key topics are:
1) Visualization & spatial ability
2) Observation &design sensitivity
3) Environmental awareness( day to day happenings, climate change, etc)
4) Logic &analytical reasoning
and so on.
Now regarding the colleges:
There is a list of good colleges at PG level offering good options, but since you are at UG level . the colleges are IIT -Bombay, Guwahati, NID-Ahmedabad, IILM-Gurgaon, symbiosis and DSK of Pune.
And, lastly regarding the career growth and prospects, yes, it has a good future ahead, lots of companies today are focusing much on their product design, aesthetics, since the competition is so high, some of the companies which recruit are mostly are from FMCG, Unilever, etc.

Comparison between Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC) and Techno India:
1. JGEC is a government institute whereas Techno India is private. This means the total expenditure in JGEC (including college and mess fees for 4 years) is about 1.8-2.5 Lacs for non core department and less than 1.5 Lacs for core departments. But in Techno India, it is around 4 Lacs- only the college fees for four years.
2. JGEC is one of the best government institutes in West Bengal.
3. JGEC has scenic beauty but is away from Kolkata. Techno India is in Kolkata.
4. Placements are more or less the same in state engineering colleges. JGEC has about 60-70% placements and Techno India has about 50% placements.
5. Apart from TFW (tuition fee waiver), there are other scholarships in JGEC.
6. JGEC has its own hostels (4 boys hostels and 1 girls hostel) and they provide nearly 100% accommodation. Whereas techno India doesn't have hostels but they manage accommodation in nearby PGs. Hostel fee in JGEC is reasonable.
