Kannan don't go with which stream is better. Go with what you want do after studying B.Tech. You may take following considerations. If you like computer, want to build crazy application or something related to software go with Computer Science engineering. If you like playing with machines/motors or electricity go ahead with Mechanical engineering. Or Electrical engineering. If you are India, after studying Electronics and communication engineering most of the students gets job/work in IT companies. Only few percent gets chance in electronics companies. You may be getting almost no Central Government IHMs and you would obviously have to compromise on state level IHMs, but instead why don't you opt for private institutions like Oberoi or Vedatya Institute-Gurgaon, Oberoi STEP has no fee and instead they pay you stipend and Vedatya institute is one of the best hotel management institutes in Delhi-NCR providing top notch level of education with similar fee structure to IHMs.

It is a decent college but not so good. Companies come for placement but do not expect much, you will only get the regular package as most of them are the "Mass Recruiters" and they give the same package to everyone.
