Dear Arjun, I would recommend you to opt for M.Tech rather than any diploma course form some good institute so that you could able to get good placement.
Admission to IIT and NIT depends entirely on GATE score.
Some of the good institutes which offer M.Tech and good placements are:
-IIIT, Hyderabad. .
-BIT Mesra, Ranchi. .
-PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. .
-Thapar University, Patiala.
- Lovely Professional University.
Lovely University provides good scholarship too. for more details check its website.

Studying a low branch in a reputed college is far more good than studying a higher branch in a low level college, it hardly matters the branch u get as far as u r studying in a good college like IIT, as u can make most of it in future.

As I study in IIT Hyderabad, I will be focusing only on IIT Hyderabad in my answer. You will have to ask students from other colleges for the whole picture. Mech in IIT Hyd is pretty decent with many of my friends going to Purdue University, Boeing, DRDO and many reputable places for internship. While I won't say that IIT Hyd has excellent placement statistics for mechanical, it certainly is improving year after year and has shown good promise. As is true with mechanical course at every institute you require higher education to bag a decent job. The prospects of higher education from IIT Hyderabad are really good, with our alumni prese

Hi,
First of all, IIT Hyderabad offer Electrical Enginnering, there is no EEE course in IIT Hyderabad. Also, I would suggest you to try IIT Gandhinagar once. But if you are comfortable with leaving IIT tag (which I consider is overhyped) an array of other options open up for you. Computer Science course at IIIT Hyderabad is very good. Also NIT Trichy, computer science is a resonable good option in terms of placement and learning, I can't say the same for EEE as I am not much aware of it.
Hope I was helpful.
