Commerce and science are the two broad categories. In commerce, you can go for arts/ design, business, finance and banking. In science, you have engineering and medical. These are the traditional streams that students choose. Some new streams are also in demand nowadays like bio- tech, nanotechnology, agriculture and genetic. Students are also moving towards fashion designing and interior designing. Research-oriented students can go for KVPY and get into institutes like IISC, IISER, etc. Commerce students can also go for CA. There are courses like mechanical/ electrical and computer science in engineering to newer ones like hotel management and fashion designing. You can opt for any of these as per your interest. 1) Start by making shorts.
2) Develop the skills for screenplay and singular vision directing.
3) Learn video editing software like Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro.
4) Experiment with old and new techniques.
5) Join some clubs or workshops, or even a short-term course of filmmaking.
Then take part in various movie making contests. This is how you build a profile.
6) Put your work on Youtube or other networking websites and let it go viral.
7) When you have done this much, you can either try for a school such as National Institute of Design (NID) or MICA or you can apply to various universities abroad. This will help you build a network and provide you more opportunities to land a job in this industry.
8) The most important point is "Do not give up on your dream". Keep trying until you achieve your goal.
