Hi Zakiya, to secure top rank in the entrances, you need to know very well what sections the test paper consists of.
-To excel, you need to be very organised. You should make a time table and follow it.
-Start your preparation after gauging your weaknesses. You need to plan your preparation after knowing your strengths and weaknesses and take a diagnostic test.
-You may refer to books related to your entrance exam.
-You may join coaching centers to strengthen up your fundamentals which will help you score good.
-Once you get a grip over the basic syllabus of the exam, you should start taking regular mock tests to know your preparation status. Also you must see if you are improving after taking the tests and analyse your performance.
Your strategy for success in entrances must include : early, continuous and serious preparation, starting right now.

Over the past two decades, AIMA's Management Aptitude Test (MAT) has been successfully availed by students across the country seeking admission in B-Schools. It remains the largest test in its category in terms of participation and reach, with several lakh students availing it each year. Today, over 600 B-schools in the country recognize and use MAT for admission to their institutions.
There are no plans to discontinue the MAT exam, as it is the largest test of its kind with national acceptance. AIMA will continue to administer MAT to MBA aspirants and recently concluded a test on 5th February 2012.The schedule of the next few MAT Tests is as under:

2nd September 2012
2nd December 2012
3rd February 2013
These Paper Based Tests will be followed by Computer Based Test in multiple slots in following Saturdays of each MAT administration.

As per your query, I would say that whichever college you studying, would surely assist you with companies for your training as OJT (On-the-job-training) is a mandatory part of curriculum for all professional programs.
Apart from the assistance that your college might provide, I would suggest you to keep a track of IT companies and also regularly make individual efforts so as not to loose in the end. Well there are good number of IT companies like TCS, Infosys, Cisco, HCL, Satyam and many more that take students for training process.
I would also advice you to start working on traits like confidence, communication, personality development, current affairs, time management as these are very important to strive out in any organization in order to secure confirmed placement with the same organization.
