PGCET is the entrance exams conducted for PG courses. M.Tech admissions through PGCET is just like any other exams, you will have to take up the exam in the stream of your choice, say computer Science or electronics or electrical. The results will be announced in the form of ranks. And allotment of seats are done online according to list of colleges given by you. There will be two rounds of seat allotment if you get allotted to the college of your preference, then you can proceed with the admissions, else you can go for the second round of allotment. The admission procedure varies from university to university, however, the general admission criteria is as below:
Admission to M.Sc program is both entrance examination based and merit-based. Certain universities like Delhi University offer both direct admission and entrance based admission to the program.
Universities like Delhi University and Savitribai Phule Pune University conduct entrance examination for admission to M.Sc. The Entrance exam is generally of 2-3 hours duration.
There are many universities in India which offer merit-based direct admission in M.Sc. Some of these universities are Banastahli University and Ramnarain Ruia College. The merit is decided on the basis of marks scored in B.Sc (Hons).
In University of Delhi, which also conducts entrance exams for admission to the program, 50% seats are also reserved for direct admission. Direct admission is offered to candidates who have passed B.Sc with 60% marks from affiliated colleges of Delhi University.
