Good academic record, preferably 60%-70% plus in graduation.
IELTS score of 6-7 bands plus.
Universities in UK have 2 admission intake in a year namely:
Fall(September) intake.
Spring(January) intake.

Both the countries you mentioned are good to pursue studies, a masters degree from universities in these countries is world wide acclaimed and acknowledged.
Please remember no course or university guarantee jobs to students, getting a job depends entirely on the knowledge level and calibre of the students.
Now coming to jobs then please remember in the present day scenario job situation in US is not very promising due to global economic turmoil and economic recession, however if you fulfil the eligibility criteria for a particular job then getting a job should not be a problem.
