In case you don't get a good college then don't get disheartened. Try for admission somewhere else. In my opinion, Govind Ballabh Pant University Pantnagar is far better than the National Institute of Technology-Uttarakhand. GB Pant University is a well established University and also it has been awarded for the best state university. It's campus is very good, faculties are very experienced. At present, both have equal placements, but ECE has a good reputation, so what others say as a brand, but it clearly depends on you. As a whole, I'll suggest is to test yourself for your desires & capabilities before deciding it as both are good here.

These are not really comparable. They deal in vastly different issues. IT is all about computer softwares, languages, coding. Mechanical is all about machines, mechanisms, heat and power transfer, physical things.
Please choose which one you connect with and which of these inspire and interest you.

University of Alberta is better as ranking wise also and the course as well. Saskatchewan is best for research in Aboriginal Peoples, agriculture, energy and mineral resources, animal and human health, synchrotron Science and water.
Jobs in Canada depend on skill shortage, so once you complete your degree, you can check but Masters in mechanical will place you well.
