In either cases, the minimum eligibility criteria required to pursue Ph.D is a Masters degree course and not a PG Diploma course, further, in most of the reputed Universities you can apply for the doctoral course if you have qualified and completed Masters through the regular mode.
I would suggest you not to take up a PG Diploma course and instead look for the MBA degree programs, it is also advised to go for a regular mode of education but in case you are keen to pursue a Distance/ Correspondence course, there are many institutes offering the same.
