Hi Atul,
I would not suggest anyone to drop any of his/her precious years. Most of the time people who drop after making several tries do not make it to JEE and then inevitably, they go for some private college after wasting a few precious years of their lives. The trick is that if you are confident and sure enough that you'll clear JEE, then you should go ahead and drop (still not more than a year). You can get direct admission in many good private colleges on the basis of your 12th marks too.

Hi,
Doing MBA after civil engineering is not worthwhile because you are diverting from your core qualification/business. After an MBA, one gets a job in that particular field only like Sales, Accounting, Retail, Banks, Insurance, Mutual Funds, etc. So in these sectors, engineering knowledge is not relevant. So, what was the use of doing engineering and spending the valuable four years into that? So, in my opinion, you have to start the searching for your job immediately, because in the next year thousand of civil engineers are in the queue for competition. So prepare your self for up coming competitive exams and attend the maximum numb

I believe by merit seat you refer to class 12th marks based admission. In such case, you need to apply for the requisite university having that criterion in the admission form. You will be called for admission as per the applicants applying and meeting their criteria. Adding your college or university, you are aspiring to would have been much better to answer.

B.Tech is a full-time course. But no one restricts you to do any distance course while doing B.Tech. The only issue lies in exams if under certain circumstance held on the same day. In such cases, bell strikes for doom else no issue. Many students do the dual course from the same institute. In such cases, they get relief that exam times on the same day don't ever coincide.
