Dear, Nikita, if you are interested in distance mode then I would suggest you MCRPV,Bhopal is the best option for you rather then, PTU or other, if you are going for regular then you can opt PTU

GATE is conducted by IIT for admission to M.Tech programme as M.Tech is a specialised programme, so entrance test for all the branches are subject specific, so yes for every branch there is a paper related to the branch which you are supposed to write and the case is similar to all the reputed institution.

The opinion on this may vary from person to person according to me, History has a limited scope in terms of job, you can either get into teaching, or civil services or limited to archaeology department or various govt museums, whereas with political science you can get into media journalism, social work, politics, teaching, civil services etc.
