Yes, GITAMN University does offer lateral entry into its BTech course for interested students. Candidates who wish to gain lateral entry into the 2nd year of BTech need to either clear a BSc course with Mathematics as one of the subjects or clear a Diploma in engineering and technology. The candidate must score a minimum aggregate of 60% in both cases.

There is no lateral entry admission in SRM University and the admission in undergraduate programs is through SRMJEE examination only. The eligibility is 10+2 with a minimum of 60% aggregate in PCM.

According to me, you should begin with your preparations from the 3rd year. Till then studies are easier comparatively. You'll be able to score well enough for any competitive exams till 2nd year if you concentrate on B.Com. Only till then.
Rest you know yourself better. If you feel like you are capable enough to manage the additional coaching other than your current study matter, then go ahead.
