Unfortunately these days, admissions in engineering colleges is through some or the other entrance exam like JEE Mains or CET conducted by state govt. Marks obtained in 12th only decide yes or no.

There are many universities or institutes which directly fill diploma seats either on percentage base or entrance exam like LPU Punjab, Chandigarh colleges of engineering, Pusa Polytechnic, Meera Bai Polytechnic, etc.

However, B.Sc. takes some technical aspects more in comparison to the general BA in Mass Comm or BJMC or BMM.
Still, there is no difference as such. Better to go with Traditional Names as these are accepted everywhere as approved.

If you had Science subjects in 10th standard (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) and have secured more than 55 percentile in 10th board exams, then you can surely opt for Diploma in Computers after completing 10th standard. This is a widely sought alternative other than completing 12th standard.
