What are the career options available after completion of B.Tech (agriculture)?

Hi Ujjwal, Agriculture is a primary source of livelihood for the majority of Indians. Thus, generally it remains the last priority among students choosing a career option. Hi, B.Sc Agriculture is growing in importance and popularity in today scenario it has growing demand in both professional as well as private organizations. The Agriculture graduate can go for various projects of government, Agricultural departments, extension services, commercial farming and research work where in there is a great demand for this stream. He can particularly become an Agricultural officer, Assistant Plantation Manager, Agricultural Research Scientist, Business Development Executive, Marketing Executive. Private jobs: There are lots of opportunities in private industries which are working in Agriculture sector e.g.Tractor companies, Irrigation companies, fertiliser and seed companies, Dairy firms etc., as a sales executive as well as research department. Initially, they offer a salary of Rs.15000-30000 for sales executive and Rs.25000-50000 for R&D. Government jobs : every state has a agriculture department and they have mandate of Processing, Mechanisation in farm, for which they recruit Agriculture Engineers in district or Tahsil level.For which every state has its own examinations. Research: After completing post graduation among any of the subcategories mentioned above,one can appear for exam of ARS conducted by ASRB, to become a scientist.

Students can take career paths such as a job as an Agriculture engineer at agro-based industries, Agriculture crop engineers, Agriculture specialists, Agriculture inspectors, farm shop managers, Agriculture researchers, environmental controls engineers, agronomists, food supervisors, microbiologist or plant physiologist.

After completion of B.Tech agriculture, you are eligible for many government post jobs like IBPS Agriculture Field Officer (AFO), Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officer and more. The salary in India ranges from 0.3 Lacs to 24.4 Lacs with an average annual salary of 3.0 Lacs.
