What are the major differences between BCA & MCA and B.Tech & M.Tech (CSE)?

B.Tech opens broader aspects for a student, it includes both technical and IT subjects while BCA includes only IT based subjects. B.Tech students can choose both engineering and IT fields for placements while BCA students can solely opt for IT industry only.

Hello, Both the courses are almost same. The only difference is that, in BCA+MCA you will be able to complete your Masters in 5 years, but in B.Tech+M.Tech, it will charge you 6 years.

BCA is Bachelor of Computer Applications whereas B Tech is Bachelor of Technology. BCA is solely computer related whereas B Tech incorporates technical subjects along with computer applications. The former is a degree course whereas the latter is an engineering discipline. BCA Professionals can seek for career in IT industries or software companies only whereas Engineers can opt either for technical jobs or for software jobs.

MCA and B.Tech has same value nowadays. 99% companies consider both B.Tech and MCA as equal. B.Tech is undergraduate degree you get admission just after 12th. BCA is undergraduate degree you can go for it after 12th. MCA is postgraduate degree you get admission after completing BCA successfully. MCA degree is Eligible for Ph.D. but B.Tech is not. B.Tech is equivalent to MCA (in certain aspects). And there are probable reasons that an MCA is a perfect course for a Software job. B.Tech is an Engineering course and involves certain subjects like physics, chemistry, drawing which are of no use in software! MCA concentrates wholly on the computer oriented areas. And remember, its a Masters! Well, people these days arent opting to this course because, MCA has to be done after a Bachelors degree (I. e. BCA or other degree in IT or Computer Science, with Mathematics/Computer Science as a subject compulsory in 10+2), and MCA itself is a 3 year course introduced by the All India Council for Technical Education. So, it takes 6 years to complete an MCA degree after 10+2. Alternatively, B.Tech, a Bachelors degree with core subjects like C, C+ and Java languages and lot more computer oriented subjects, is a 4 year one! So, people opt to this. Still, people from BCA or B.Sc. IT/CS could go for MCA in certain reputed institutes (offering MCA as a 2 year course and a lateral entry for BCA candidates).
