Bharat, you can go ahead with a private college. Design is a field that is age old &has been evolving every year like science. The world has changed a lot and a lot of new & wonderful careers in design have come up. Sometimes student Artists are too much enamoured by Fine Arts preventing them to look objectively at Design.Again like science it pays to be at the cutting edge. For e.g. science students do better if they go for CS or IT since that are areas where development is taking place rapidly. Similarly in Design the cutting edge areas are UID/ UXD, 3D Printing, Immersive Technology, Augmented Reality, 3D Projection etc, besides of

I would advise you to make your decision free from any bias from people around you, be it your relatives or even parents, if you really have the drive to go for a drop then don't let anyone stop you, meanwhile if you aren't sure of yourself then not taking a drop would be a better idea. I am not saying you should have high scores this year for you to drop but should have that inner feeling that you will qualify next time no matter what. Some good colleges are:
NID, IIT Bombay, NIFT, Lovely Professional University, Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology
Pearl Academy, Arch Academy of Design Jaipur, Creations School, Pune, Institute of Indi

    Hi Bharat,
Being in designing field myself, I strongly suggest you to try for NID. Only if you think you have the talent and creativity for it. Even though La creme de la creme gets into that institute, well there's a good reason and there's no harm in trying for it. Getting into private colleges is very easy and your NID preparation will come in handy. Try your luck at it because I am sure the risk would be worth if you get in. NID is the best option. Good luck!

I would suggest to check other institute like MIT in Pune. NID is a brand name and have a value worldwide, but MIT is also offering the similar thing as NID. It is also considered amongst the best institutes in India.
If you get into NID for B.Des course (4 years), then your first year will be foundation program and from second year, you will get your specific disciplines (product design, animation design, graphic design, exhibition design, film and video communication, ceramic and glass design, textile design, furniture design, etc.).
During one year of foundation program, there will be several courses which will be common for all stude

I would suggest you to take a year drop to prepare for NID. As today's world is all about brand name. If you will get admission in NID, you will get better scope in future as being the student of NID.
