What is good for a PCB student among B.Tech in biotechnology and B.Sc in biotechnology?

I want to do Masters from US. Can I do B.Tech in biotechnology from India and then M.Tech from US? I had PCB.

B.Tech Biotechnology programme is designed to meet the ever-changing scenario in the field of Biotechnology. JNU's major emphasis is on the practical knowledge, where students are trained in the field of Microbiology, Molecular and Recombinant DNA Technology, Bioprocess Engineering and Bioinformatics. Organization of seminars, workshops, industrial and institutional visits help the students to develop research temperament, orientation skills and to practically observe Biotechnological processes at Industrial level. Six months dissertation (Project Work) in last semester provides an opportunity for the students to work in emerging field

B.Tech is much better because you will get exposed to the technological side of biotechnology in it.

    Dear Anuvrat,
As a PCB student, you can choose any of the two courses either B.Tech or B.Sc. Both to have its own pros and cons. No doubt B.Tech biotech is more professional degree with more quick job opportunities in India. However if you want to study higher and make your career in academics then you can go for B.Sc. Biotech. As it has more growth option abroad as well. Good luck and do respond if you have any query.

B.Tech degree in Biotechnology encompasses both the biological sciences as well as the engineering aspect of Biotechnology. Biotechnology is one of the courses where you can get an engineering as well as Science degree. If you are interested in higher studies and have the time and money to pursue your passion this field can help you become an engineer as well as scientist. This course has more career options and opportunities than B.Sc. In biotechnology.

You need maths if not then you have to do additional course for it because Second and Third year has biostatistics.

It is better to go for B.Sc in biotechnology or else do B.Pharma and after that MBA. It would provide you better pay scale in the future.

    Hello Anuvrat,
As you may already know B.Sc. Is 3 years (six semester) and B.Tech is 4 years (8 semester). Comparatively B.Sc. Is much more relaxed than B.Tech. The number of course work and lab work will be less in B.Sc. And you will be introduced to the core subjects right from the first year whereas in B.Tech, 1st year will have common engineering course work (Refer any university syllabus) with very little or no core subjects. From 2nd year there will be 6 or 7 course works and 3 or 4 lab works to complete in each semester. This can change from one university to another but it won't be less than that.
    Regards.
