This year the maximum slary offerred to a student was 9.55 lakh per annum while average salary was 4 lakhs. Agriculture courses at LPU is very popular because LPU is the first private university to get an ICAR approval. The programme the LPU agriculture programme is designed with a target of holistic development of students. School of Agriculture offers programs with up-to -date curriculum designed to suit the aspirations of agricultural industries as well as major research and development sectors. The laboratories of the School are world class. The dedicated faculty gives the students a hands -on training experience by assigning live projects (Agricultural work) in university agricultural research farms and experiential learning on different agricultural units. It includes disciplines like Agronomy, Horticulture Genetics and Plant Breeding, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Economics, Extension, etc. The major emphasis of the programme is to get the students acquainted with knowledge and hands-on experiences in the above mentioned discipline and apply that knowledge to high value agricultural production in a sustainable manner. Being an alumni of LPU I would rather say that the school of Agriculture in Lovely Professional University is among the best place for pursuing the BSC in agriculture. Now you would be saying why I am saying like that, actually my cousin has completed his degree from here only. The most significant thing which should be emphasized is that LPU is the first private university which has been approved by ICAR.I along with my cousins had visited the fields, labs. In order to infuse understanding on emerging problems and technologies involved in agriculture field visits are conducted to neighboring farms, orchards and nurseries. Not only subject related education is imparted but also the professional enhancement is added by the university through the different courses like soft skills and communication skills. Major Highlights of the programme that I would be highlighting over here are as follows: a)The course would impart knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts and techniques of maintaining and enhancing soil fertility, crop production, crop management, crop improvement, biodiversity and sustainability of agriculture worldwide. b)The course would develop the ability to know farming practices and their scope to improve in the rural areas and the environments. c)It would help in applying the knowledge of basic science through Agricultural microbiology, Plant biochemistry and Biotechnology. d)It will focus on application of knowledge of Agri-business management and finance to develop profitable agricultural system. B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, M.Sc. Ag. (Genetics &amp;amp; Plant Breeding), M.Sc. Ag. (Agronomy) and M.Sc. Ag. Horticulture (Fruit Science) programmes are accredited to ICAR by the National Agricultural Education Board of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, an autonomous body responsible for coordinating agricultural education and research in India.
