What qualities and skills should one possess to become a film director?

Qualities required for becoming a film director – Authority Great filmmakers must have a strong sense of authority as they are responsible for leading a team in creating an outstanding finished product. Hence they must command the team to ensure they are working at their best. Communication Great filmmakers must have excellent communication skills. Clearly articulating what their production goals are and be able to work with all team members in accomplishing the goal. Creativity They must be very creative, and be able to generate ideas for stories, backgrounds, music, and other elements involved in a producing a film. Decisiveness Great filmmakers must be able to make firm decisions and stick to them to help ensure production stays on track. Drive A great filmmaker has a tremendous sense of drive and ambition. They must take chances whatever required to be on top of the industry and to make great films. Grace Under Pressure Great filmmakers are able to handle pressure well. They understand that complications will arise during the filmmaking process and are able to handle the stress. Open Minded Great filmmakers are open-minded to changes in their ideas. Ideation is one of the important aspects of film-making. They accept input readily and consider other points of view without judgment. Problem Solving Great filmmakers can quickly address problems that arise during production. They are able to identify problems and figure out the best way to fix them. Technologically Savvy A great filmmaker is familiar with many, if not all, of the technological elements that are involved in the filmmaking process, and has a grasp on what is feasible and what is not. Vision Great filmmakers have a terrific vision and can see the film from its conception through to its final product. They never lose sight of the ultimate goal.

Listen and think first, It's not a job, its a lifestyle. Filmmaking consumes every single waking moment. Unless one has a passion for what he/she is doing, he/she won't be able to do this. Personal challenge is to juggle with your dream personal life. Manage that properly and we will all think you are a magician. Are you ready to grab the same? This work also takes up a huge amount of physical and mental resources. Health needs to be dealt with in detail. It's not about how hard you work, it's about how smart you work. One needs to learn quickly about doing the work smartly. Knowing what you really want or knowing how someone is going to react to what you need before you spring into action is half.

Every successful person has lots of people trying to take them down. One must not get off track because of others criticism. One must be self-motivated and determined till the project gets completed.

Directors are responsible for creatively translating the film's written script into actual images and sounds on the screen. Hello, A film director is like a corporate director. The director is one who provides a particular direction to move on! So you need to have the qualities and skills as similar as a corporate director has. To giving you a sense of my saying, you should to posses with: (#) Communication Skills: Needless to say that more than half of your day will be spent to talk with the casting. If you are not good in this skills you might not be able to deliver the message. (#) Quick Decisive: Since all the decision of the film, video or anything is done by you. You have to show you the involvement and has to give the quick decisions about it. (#) Technical Skills: It is a must skill that needs to be equipped with.
