IIT Roorkee is perhaps the best and most self contained campus. I love their main building looks like any British University. Hostels are all within walking distance to the main building. Shopping is close by. It provides a very laid back life style. It is over 175+ year old, Near Ganges River has excellent sports and club facilities. British set it up like any British University/ College Campus. IIT Delhi - It was good some 25 years ago when Delhi was less crowded but now it is all surrounded by concrete jungle. It is a very compact campus with urban setting and good shopping around. Being in the capital city, you can gets all the benefits of social, cultural activities and other events. IIT Kanpur campus is quite good campus, academically great place but the life outside the campus is total garbage. Kanpur is a dirty, stinky and a hopeless city, and UP is horrible too. There is no escape from grime and dirt every where in the UP. IIT Mumbai is a fine place, campus is good and clean, but the location is quite remote from the main city. Powai is neither near main city, and nor a decent clean suburb. Outside the campus - the area is quite miserable. Actually, whole Mumbai outside of some super rich areas stinks of raw sewage.

Kharagpur is secluded, and is an ugly campus. That is all we can say. IIT Madras is great looking campus, but gets the most boring crowd, barely any pretty girl in the 50 mile radius, and the food is horrible as well. If you don't like south Indian food - you will die due to the lack of eating decent food if nothing else. All the best.

Hello dear, Well, if we talk about the engineering domain, IITs are incomparable as they all are governed by the same authority but yet if I compare them then it's like "Old is Gold". The old IITs are better as they are well established in infrastructure and the alumni network is global. Below is the list of IITs according to MoHRD in 2017: 1. IIT Kharagpur - Established in 1951, IIT Kharagpur is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the country and also the oldest. 4. IIT Delhi - Established in 1961, this institution was named as the College of Engineering and Technology and later in 1963 it became an IIT. 5. IIT Kanpur - Next in the hierarchy comes the 57-year-old IIT Kanpur, located near Kalyanpur village in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. 6. Probably, the old IITs are the top IITs. Just because these institutions are well established and has very good alumni network which is spread all over the planet. The Indian Institute of Technologies are hard to compare. But, according to NIRF, IIT Madras is the best IIT offered the country. However, I don't agree with the NIRF ranking. IIT Bombay has been the favourite destination for the top rankers of JEE Advanced and has been the leading Institute of India in world rankings. I would like to add Indian Institute Of Technology, Patna to the list because its reputation is growing day by day. Recently, a student of IIT Patna bagged handsome package of 1.8 crores per annum. The rank list of IITs is as below: IIT, Madras (Chennai) IIT, Bombay IIT, Kharagpur IIT, Delhi IIT, Kanpur IIT, Guwahati IIT, Roorkee IIT (BHU), Varanasi Top IITS in India: The Indian Institutes of Technology better known as the IITs are autonomous engineering institutions that are governed by the rules and regulations laid down by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). IITs are the dream for every science students who wants to become engineer or scientist. Every year, more than 12 lakhs of students appear of JEE Mains which is known as Joint Entrance Examination and from that around 2.5 lakhs students appear for JEE Advanced and by clearing JEE Advanced, around 15 to 20 thousand students goes into IITs. IIT-Bombay, Delhi, Kharagpur and Madras are at top because they are older IITs and since they have completed many years, the placement ratio, training and education will be better in them than the newly opened IITs.

IIT- A name which in itself is a brand many student dream to enter into. There is a race to be on top among all IITs which is mainly managed by NIRF which gives rank to all IITs and all the citizens of India follows this rank. NIRF says, they use strict parameters for ranking of college and on the basis of these parameter ranking were made but I have a doubt about the honesty of panel members, I think they are being biased towards some private institutes which used their resources to affect the decision of panel members. Just think (VIT) Vellore ranks above several reputed institutes like IIT-BHU, BITS-Pilani, Several NITs, DTU etc., which is baffling. Ranking should be made on the basis admission processes, quality education, student, quality of research, Infrastructure, Placement, Industry interaction, etc. Here is the ranking: 1. IIT Bombay 2. IIT Delhi 3. IIT Kanpur 4. IIT KGP 5. IIT Madras 6. IIT Roorkee 7. IIT BHU 8. IIT Guwhati
