If you have just finished your HSC and need to decide the branch now, don't think which one has more demand now. While choosing a branch, you need to think about the demand after five years from now. More than that, you need to know your strength and weakness.
You can take help of some aptitude tests and figure out what exactly you would like to do but simply don't choose a branch because someone asked you to do that, choose it because you know that is the field you will remain passionate about even after four years from now.

Petroleum engineering has a bright future in foreign countries like Dubai, Saudi Arabia etc. Also, the fields like IT, civil, aeronautical engineering has bright future.
The fields like mechanical, electrical etc. are common and scope is not so much high. While for chemical engineering there is no demand for these types of engineers. It will depend on your interest and also on institute from which you are doing your engineering.

Btech CS/IT have more options in respect to job bcoz many companies come in campus for placement drive on the other hand civil & mechanical students its very sad on there part as very less company visit for these students. EC students can make there career in development but EEE branch is having very less scope.
