Well.every branch has its own importance and scope. There is no way of comparing MECHANICAL and CSE together and weigh them to see which is better. cause both are different streams and have equal opportunities and career prospects. So, just go with your passion. But one thing I would say that just go for the reputed colleges only as you will get good industrial exposure, better faculty, learning and placement opportunities there. Look forward to get in to any of the IITs, NITs or good private ones like UPES Dehradun, BITS Pilani, K.J. Somaiya etc.and you would never regret of your decision of choosing this stream. Good luck :)

According to present situation, computer science engineering has more scope and better placement opportunities. With all these new startups and MNCs coming to India CSE is a branch where you want to be in coming 4-5 years. Mechanical engineering has its own perks, a career in ME allows you to build a better future for you, and for the world. ME might not provide you a high paying job initially, but over the time with your experience you can grow.
Both the branches have scope and it all depends on your dedication.
