Both Are doing good in the education sector. I have done engineering from LPU and I have a lot of friends from the civil branch and they all are placed in good sectors with great packages. Students are placed in companies like Cleanmax Solar, Al Rakha (UAE), Dharam Consulting, Era Infra Engineering Ltd. , KEC International, Simplex, WSP India, XL Dynamics, CVENT, Rishishwar Construction, Premier Developers and Contractors, etc. In Civil Engineering LPU emphasizes the evolution of manmade infrastructure as LPU understands how they have evolved to the present scenario. With the advancement of technology in leaps and bounds, the future of civil engineering in the years to come will be crucial, especially with the establishment of smart cities. Hi Arun, first of all let me tell you, Civil engineers generally work in a variety of locations and conditions. It is common for them to split their time between working in an office and working outdoors at construction sites so that they can monitor operations or solve problems onsite. Now to work in multilingual environment, there is a high requirement of exposure to both National & International platform at the time of your pursuance of course itself. So it's better to grab the opportunity of International Exposure provided by the University. Dear Arun, I did MBA from LPU and I had many friends from Civil Engineering, so I have idea course, Placements, Curriculum, etc. One of my friend told that, This programme at LPU include a blend of hands-on experiential learning and theoretical foundational courses. The very best include a mix of traditional learning in laboratories and classrooms with cooperative programs that allow students to gain work experience. Others may include independent research with faculty members another good bet for individuals hoping to go directly into research or the workforce upon graduation. Coming to faculty, they are one of the best mentors to us & everything here is up to the mark. The faculty is supporting if one is willing to learn. They teach the subjects with their full effort. Writing board, screen-projector, labs are used to teach. The college arranges frequent industry visits. New innovative ideas were framed into working models and were showcased to 10000+ school students. The capstone project is an integral part of B.Tech programme in which students have to pick a live project based on practical problem-based scenario (ideally from industry) and work for six months under a mentor and present a report at the end. This is beneficial to enhance your presentation skills. Industrial visits are organized to nearby construction sites from time to time. There, you can SEE actual construction work going on. Be prepare to have dust on your shoes (believe me, it will be worth a lot). You have to ask questions yourself and trigger interest in the activities around you. In order to enhance the learning experience of the civil engineering students, the University has established a laboratory named, university lab mechanical testing of building and construction material. National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) is a Constituent Board of Quality Council of India (QCI) that provides CAB (Conformity Assessment Boys) accreditation. With better theoretical and practical knowledge, students are much more competent than any other university. LPU has very good placement records and good infrastructure, companies visit campus, L & T, Simplex Piles Ltd, Era Infrastructure, Gammon India Ltd to name a few. See, it would be unjustified to compare these two educational institutes. The reason is that Thapar University is a very old organisation and is best in the region. On the other side, LPU is 15 years old and is persevering to achieve its goal of "transforming education and transforming India". So, without defaming or comparing with other good institutes, we would like to highlight following points about LPU. 1) Curriculum Innovation: Curriculum for all disciplines is revised after every six months. You must go for Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology. Civil engineering at LPU: Faculty members at LPU are so average in the department, they only focus on attendance and the fee. Placement at LPU is this branch is almost zero. I would never recommend for LPU to pursue civil engineering. Thapar is just vice versa of that, almost every faculty is a research scholar, better placement, well-equipped labs and what not. My brother is a civil engineer passed out from Thapar, he got placed through TIET and today he's enjoying perks of it. Honestly, I would recommend you for TIET.

LPU gives you the good opportunity for B.Tech placements are also better here as many companies visit the campus also best infrastructure. Although check about other colleges if you wish for much more.
