Which is a better university to pursue B.Tech in civil engineering, Thapar University or LPU?

As per my experience, LPU is the Best OPTION. In Civil, Engineering LPU emphasizes the evolution of manmade infrastructure as LPU understands how they have evolved to the present scenario. With the advancement of technology in leaps and bounds, the future of civil engineering in the years to come will be crucial, especially with the establishment of smart cities. LPU is nurturing our students to adapt and be equipped with this ever-changing scenario. To cater to these needs the department is structured into five vibrant centers of study: Structural. Hydraulics. Environment. Geotechnica. Transportation. As per my friends experiences, those are graduated in civil from LPU. LPU is Imparting knowledge through site visits, case studies, real-time designs of structures. It has well-equipped lab facilities like concrete testing, cement testing, soil testing, surveying, highway material testing, and structural mechanics. They are Teaching through PPTs, videos, images, and animations. Manual, as well as computerized structural designing skills with CAD and soft-wares like STAAD Pro, MX Road, are provided to the students. I think, Thapar Institute is better in terms of placements and infrastructure. An institute whose student accommodation has recently been awarded for best infrastructure ought to be good in civil engineering. Keeping that aside as well, I know many people who pursued their Civil engineering. From TIET and are placed with reputed organizations.

I think Thapar University is the best option because it offers admission through JEE Mains score when compared to LPU. And it also provides opportunities to students to get the training of one year in foreign countries.

LPU is the best choice to pursue B.Tech Civil engineering programme as LPU not only provides excellent teaching but also provides positive environment for learning. Beside this LPU also provides campus placements in well established multinational companies. LPU Civil Engineering Discipline focuses on creating professionals that become the inventors of future sustainable technology. Unilab-Mechanical Testing of Building and Construction Materials Lab of School of Civil Engineering is now NABL Accredited by Quality Council of India (QCI). This makes LPU the only private university in the country to bag the prestigious accreditation. It also becomes the first university in Punjab to receive the NABL accreditation. As far as PLACEMENTS are concerned, they create Skilled Professionals that are Recruit-Able much before they Graduate. Following are the highlights of Civil engineering in LPU: - 1. Most of the faculty staff is from reputed organizations with their the highest degree from various reputed institutes such as IITs, NITs, etc. Apart from that, faculty have got previous industrial experience also. 2. The capstone project is an integral part of the B.Tech programme in which students have to pick a live project based on the practical problem-based scenario (ideally from industry) and work for six months under a mentor and present a report at the end. This is beneficial to enhance your presentation skills. 3. There is an internship programme that could be an opportunity for getting work experience and increase your chance to get employment after you pass out. But, of course, your academic record should be good to get this placement option. 4. Industrial visits are organized to nearby construction sites from time to time. There, you can SEE actual construction work going on. Be prepared to have dust on your shoes (believe me, it will be worth a lot). You have to ask questions yourself and trigger interest in the activities around you. 5. You will get some courses from soft skills, English language, mental and on analytical aptitude side. This sounds dull to you as of now. But you will feel its importance when you face an interview panel in a company during your placement drives. 6. They have very good placement records and good infrastructure companies visit their campus, L & T, Simplex Piles Ltd, Era Infrastructure, Gammon India Ltd to name a few.
