In placements the mncs wants you to be a fresher not a dropper it seems to be a good thing to take a pause of a year for competitive but nothing ends up so your grade may improve a bit but that with a lot of hard work.

Dekh bhai bitter truth koi nai bolta. Agar tujhme iit mein jane ki capability hoti toh isi baar tera ho jata. Mai toh kahunga bhai state board k competitions ki tyari kar agar achche se padha hoga 12th mein toh unme se koi toh nikal hi jaega. Baki teri marzi agar tujhe apna EK SAAL waste karna hai toh. All The Best for that.
Main toh yahi kahunga time bahut precious chiz hai use it wisely.

    yes it can be beneficial
but initially you have to set your goal, means in which institute you want to take admission, which course you want to choose, last year's cutoff list of that institute. then according to that you can start preparations for competitive exam.

According to my experience it was horrible to drop one more year. That fear of not getting any NIT or IIT will never let you sleep, pressure of being successful will keep pushing you forward. Expectation of people will be high from you.
But in the end, you made into some iit's or not doesn't matter, what you will feel inside is that you're changed. You will become a better and stronger person, who can face much more problems and difficulties that you couldn't face before in your life. You will become productive in your daily life. And also what if you made it to the IIT's that will be a plus point on your achievements that you will made

The programme welcomes students from all streams, including humanities, as long as they meet the minimum requirement of 50% marks in their 12th exams. Many humanities students find the programme a natural extension of their academic interests, as the curriculum often connects with cultural, historical, and social themes. For example, a student who studied history might bring unique perspectives into courses like painting or applied arts.

The university values creativity and passion over specific subjects studied in school.
