If you are sincere student and you can devote one year with 100% efficiency than only drop a year otherwise decide your area of interest and go for it.

Taking a drop is always a very subjective decision,it depends on many factors, like if you want to get decent campus Placement, you should get into a reputed College. It completely depends on you.If you will drop then you had to be ready for immense hardwork and an emotional battle that you had to face. Everybody will tell you about its pros n cons, some will support you and some willcriticize your decision.During this year sometimes you'll feel like you've done a mistake by taking a gap, feel frustration of exams, competition and it becomes more when your exam is near but if you tackle these things than surely you'll excel. Not necessary to drop a year after 12th for preparation. It is all about time management. If you manage your time well you'll definately score well in your competitive exams. And you'll save your one year too!

Yes, it should not be hard for you to get admission to the University of Western Australia as an Indian student with 50% in class 12th. However, please note that it does not put you in the top applicants either. The general admission percentage requirement for international students is 50 to 65%.

Look at the other admission requirements -

  • English proficiency tests with IELTS (bands 6.5) or TOEFL iBT (82+)
  • High school Diploma from a recognised board like CBSE or ICSE etc.
  • Some course-specific subjects for Engineering programs

  • For highly competitive courses like Medicine, cut off is usually higher.
  • Strong SAT/ACT scores can also compensate for a slightly lower board percentage.
